Dimitris Chrysanthakopoulos, Boundless Trails Founder & Trail Therapy Practitioner
Dimitris discovered mountain biking and his passion for the outdoors later in life at the age of 33 when he moved to Elgin in the North of Scotland.
“I was new to the area and keen to make friends. Knowing that sports can be a great way to connect with people, a colleague of mine who was an avid mountain biker suggested that I try getting a bike through the cycle-to-work scheme. And that was all it took! I quickly caught the mountain biking bug and reorganized my life around this thrilling activity.”
From those first local rides to tackling rugged Highland trails, mountain biking became more than just a hobby. It offered a sense of freedom, community, and mental clarity — a kind of therapy on two wheels.
The Birth of Boundless Trails
Since March 2024, Dimitris has been leading mountain biking sessions with a focus on mental health, offering his time as a volunteer to support others. These sessions quickly became more than just rides — they turned into safe, supportive spaces where people could connect, build confidence, and feel the therapeutic power of nature and movement.
Seeing the impact firsthand — from small breakthroughs to lasting shifts in wellbeing — inspired Dimitris to create Boundless Trails CIC. The aim was to give structure and sustainability to the voluntary work, and to reach even more people who could benefit from time on the trails.
“At its core, Boundless Trails is about encouraging people to get out there — to experience not just the physical benefits of mountain biking, but the deep mental and emotional rewards that come with it.”
Background & Experience
Dimitris has spent over a decade working in local government, leading projects that create real, lasting impact across the sport, healthcare, and social care sectors. He currently leads the development of the Improving the Cancer Journey service across NHS Grampian — a role focused on ensuring compassionate, person-centred support during some of life’s most challenging times.
As a qualified project manager with an MBA, he brings a strong combination of strategic thinking, collaboration, and deep care for community wellbeing. At Boundless Trails, he blends that professional expertise with personal lived experience — creating a service that helps people move forward, both mentally and physically, one ride at a time.
