Our Role & impact in Active Recovery Moray
As part of the Active Recovery Moray partnership, Boundless Trails CIC proudly delivers weekly mountain biking sessions that support mental wellbeing through outdoor activity.
Active Recovery Moray is a collaborative initiative led by Moray Community Sport Hubs, Elgin Sports Community Trust, Arrows, Police Scotland, and other local partners — with a shared mission to offer free, inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities for people facing mental health and wellbeing challenges.
Our Role
Weekly sessions
Since March 2024, Boundless Trails has led free Monday morning rides based in Elgin, designed to help participants reconnect with nature, move their bodies, and feel part of a supportive community.
Sessions are open to all abilities and fully supported
Each ride starts with a coffee and informal chat, creating space for connection and conversation
Sunday Adventure Rides
Every 6 weeks, we run longer Sunday rides — giving participants the chance to explore further afield, build confidence, and challenge themselves in a safe, supported setting.
Each trip includes a mix of trail levels, plenty of breaks, and encouragement throughout
We've explored a variety of beautiful Scottish locations, including: Tarland Trails, Glenlivet, Aviemore, Laggan Wolftrax
Our Impact
21 participants currently involved
6–8 riders attend our Monday sessions each week
8–10 participants join the Sunday rides
Many riders have reported improved mood, reduced anxiety, and a renewed sense of purpose
The group has become a trusted, peer-supported community where people feel safe, seen, and supported
Through Boundless Trails’ involvement, Active Recovery Moray continues to show that physical activity — when approached with care and intention — can be a powerful tool in mental health recovery.
